Expert Care Guide: While Scindapsus varieties are famous for being relatively easy to care for, the Aurea variegation requires a bit of attention to keep its colors vibrant:
- Light: Provide bright, indirect sunlight. Generous lighting is crucial to maintain the stunning yellow variegation and prevent the plant from reverting to solid green. However, strictly avoid direct sun, which will burn the variegated sections.
- Watering: Allow the top 2 inches of the potting medium to dry out completely before watering again. Pro-Tip: The thick leaves of the Jade Satin hold water well; when the plant is thirsty, the leaves will softly curl inward, telling you it’s time for a drink!
- Soil: Plant in a very chunky, well-draining aroid mix. A blend of high-quality orchid bark, perlite, and a little premium potting soil will prevent root rot.
- Humidity: Adaptable to normal household humidity, but will produce much larger leaves and grow faster in higher humidity (60% to 80%).
- Support: It looks beautiful trailing, but providing a wooden plank or sphagnum moss pole will encourage the leaves to grow significantly larger and exhibit its natural shingling behavior.
