Description
Make a bold statement in your indoor garden with the breathtaking Hoya Calistophylla Black Cat. Highly coveted by rare plant collectors, this exotic epiphytic vine is celebrated for its incredibly stiff, succulent-like foliage that features a striking, intricate pattern of dark green-to-almost-black veins set against a lighter green background.
The 'Black Cat' variation takes the standard Calistophylla up a notch, offering much darker, more pronounced venation that resembles a prehistoric fossil or a beautiful turtle shell. When mature and happy, it produces clusters of small, star-shaped, pale yellow to yellowish-orange flowers that emit a delightfully sweet, citrusy fragrance.

Hoya Calistophylla Care Guide
This Hoya is generally easy to care for, provided you understand its epiphytic nature (it grows on trees in the wild, not in the ground). Keep these tips in mind:
- Light: Provide plenty of bright, indirect sunlight. Strong, indirect light is the absolute secret to bringing out the highest contrast and darkest color in those beautiful veins. Avoid direct afternoon sun, which can bleach the leaves.
- Watering: Treat it somewhat like a succulent. Because of its thick, stiff leaves, it stores water well. Allow the potting medium to dry out almost completely before watering again. Overwatering is the easiest way to harm this plant.
- Soil: It requires an extremely airy, chunky, and fast-draining epiphytic mix. A blend of medium-to-large orchid bark, coarse perlite, and pumice is highly recommended.
- Humidity: It thrives in higher humidity (60% - 80%). High humidity will significantly speed up its growth rate and help it push out new vines.
- Temperature: Keep it in a warm environment (18°C - 30°C / 65°F - 86°F). It does not tolerate cold drafts.
